Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. Our senior Practice Nurse is also a qualified prescriber and may write you a prescription for medication. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, and blood pressure checks. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.
Treatment Room Nurses
The Treatment Room Nurses are part of Midlothian Community Health Partnership's Primary Care staff and provide services to all three Practices in the Health Centre. They have a separate appointment system to the Practice so if you need to make or clarify an appointment please contact the Community Reception directly on 0131 537 9945.
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
